Recording a Brass Section

We were brave enough to let a jazz/soul trumpet and trombone playing duo the chance to let off some ad-libbing steam in the Headliner recording studio. It shows a slightly unusual way of getting great results out of these loud and proud musicians in a room that really isn't made for four people using a great interface and mic combo.

Choosing an audio interface can be quite a personal thing – but in basic terms, in a small, in the box space, which we’re working in today, there are a few simple boxes that need to be ticked: low latency, a nice simple user interface, the unit should be plug and play, have quality preamps, and decent A-D conversion.

Watch these accomplished jazz musicians record some weird and wonderful brass parts over some soulful songs using a Merging Technologies Anubis interface and Vanguard V13 microphone.
